What’s the World coming to…?
Watched “Kalyug” over the weekend. Why? Because the options were “Neal n Nikki” and “Ek Ajnabee”. Surprisingly it wasn’t as bad a movie as I thought it would be. There are some nice songs, really soulful. And a really really cute girl in the first half. Now, before you jump to conclusions, she isn’t uber pretty or anything. But she’s talented, and refreshingly so!! You got to watch her in the act to know what I mean.
As a senior colleague of mine put it – “Kalyug starts off with sleaze, neatly categorized and segmented as an industry and also mentions the precise market shares…well, well totally appeals to the man with the MBA in me!!” Crude, but True.
It’s a nice concept, but callously handled. There are a few things though that struck a cord somewhere: The very fact that there are people in this world who would go to any lengths to achieve “success”, the fact that the moral fabric has degenerated to such an extent that I wonder if there is the possibility of looking back now.
Everyone knows there is so much wrong and warped about our existence today. Yet there are these innumerable invisible shackles that stop us from doing the right thing. Its not a nice feeling, you know, helplessness. Probably if we take it one step at a time, one person at a time. Then maybe……. Just maybe.

well what are morals? i believe they are a very personal thing. Morals are directions that guide you when u r in a dilemma, and they emerge from ur principles. If all u ever wanted was success so be it.
Nuthing is ever right or wrong. The way you look at it makes is so.
Everyone on his own....one step at a time :)
I havent seen the movie so far for obvious reasons but most of the times the way things are potrayed in movies are far different from the actual world...But every once in a while a film-maker brings forth a true reflection of everyday world...And that makes u think if the world u live is actually like this...if people could do all the things that they say they do...It is difficult to relate to this because in our small time on this planet, we have seen only so much and there is much of the truth left to see.
Shackles that stop us from doing the right thing??? There should be shackles to try and desist us from doing the wrong things...
In such matters one is only answerable to his/her own self...rest dont matter...
Idealistic nevertheless :)
hmmm....and hmmmm again!!! the post was purely on impulse....the movie was probably just tht...a "movie"...but it made me restless and hence the post. Sid, I agree with you...nuthing stops you from doing the right thing...but then again, how many times do we turn away from something which we know is not right... I might not make a lot of sense really...but just felt really uneasy. As Ashish said, we have so much more to learn yet...As for V3.1, everyone has their perspective about right or wrong....mine says tht somethings really wrong with our sense of morality...well...I AM being idealistic :)
Where where where...how soon is soon ?
