Democracy : dēmos = people + -kratiā = cracy
This post is not on the lines of one of my regular posts. You might find it sad, laughable or plain stupid. You may proceed to read at your own risk. You stand warned!!
So the Lalu reign in Bihar has come to an end. The JD(U)-BJP alliance has successfully packed him off, lock stock and barrel (I hope!).
It was an emphatic win to say the least...In my opinion a triumph of the masses over a sham regime built on the foundations of indiscriminate castism and an irreverence to the very concept of democracy. Hope Bihar prospers, the people there deserve atleast some relief from all the negativity.
As I always say, Hope is a strange thing. It makes you want to go on, it pushes you to the limit, it cajoles you to reach places you never dreamt off.... and in the end makes you smile at all your follies and wonder at your own endurance and resilience. Yes Sir!! I thrive on Hope...
By the Way...I liked Lalu in a way. He sure was entertaining ;) Especially the bit which said "Jab tak rahega samose mein aalu, tab tak Bihar mein rahega Lalu"...Well I guess the samosa had the last laugh afterall!!!

I've been reading about it since morning in the papers.. and really I'm so glad.. I could never never figure out how people could go on voting for someone and keep him in power fr 15 years when he's done nothin fr them..and i hate caste politics, i've seen a live example of tht rite in my college.. time fr a change finally..
Hmmm...difficult for me to identify with the caste related problems...but i can imagine they must be horrible
Hope is indeed a strange thing...for an optimist its a driving force...for a pessimist it brings despair...
As for Lalu...well i dont trust the "intellect" of the voting public...for all we know he might come riding back sooner than you/we want!
Aloo nahin to ab kya...shayad onion shayad tamatar :)

Politics has and always will be the last thing on my mind...I never understand the fact that people can let other people govern their lives and then the other people take advantage of this situation and try to make the people's lives miserable and this leads to people understanding that the choics that they made beforehand was wrong so they just go ahead and put their lives in someone else's hands...sound stupid...probably there is some side of this that I still have not understood or probably there isn't...who is to say ???
Could'nt have come at a better time. The ouster of that hyper-trichosis(meaning a hairy pinna), fat, concieted bugger of a man ie Laloo atleast spells some amount of hope for the poor state.
Hope Nitish K. turns out good for Bihar.
But I feel quite sad at the sort of media coverage meted out to him especially Aaj-Tak. Even in his loss, his glorification is being carried out. Thats sad.
With the kind of history the man carries around, his utter disrespect towards the constitution on a whole, one is surprised there has'nt been a single assassination attempt on him.
anita pillai?????? i guess its u...nice to meet u here yet again...
well i totally agree with maverick - why there hasnt been a single attempt to assassinate laloo?? neways off the topic, im real glad narayan rane won!
Its on the basis of hope that the world survives and so is Bihar. We too hope Nitish Kumar ushers Social Justice through developement.
hi u all!! i see tht it takes a Lalu to bring out all the good citizens of blogville in unanimous protest!!! glad to know we all share sumthing in common!!
@ Hey Aditi...so u still arnd?? let me know wats up with u??
On second thoughts, an assassination attempt on Lalu wud have made juicy reading...thanks for the idea Maverick!!
And Ashish at his cyniocal best I see!!! ;)
Hi Trivial and Vijay !! welcome ... :)
Its is not cynical in intent. It is sad though that it has to be.
Well there had been a pseudo (rather unknowing) assassination attempt on Lallo. An over-enthusiastic supporter threw his "gamcha" on to Laloo's helicopter, which luckily for us got stuck into the rotor blades causing some problem.
As a result of which the chopper had to make an emergency landing and unfortunately he survived.
Sometimes one feels life is so unfair. It makes me feel like Marvin the robot. (Anyone who has read Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy will know the GPP installed robot with a brain the size of a planet)
Cheers
Hi. Currently preparing for my final exams and trying to read blogs in my breaks..yup I'm glad folks of Bihar finally had some sense to kick Laloo out. Looking forward n hoping Nitish can bring about a fresh change with results..And technically 'Hypertrichosis' means 'excessive hair' and not necessarily 'Hairy Pinna' as someone pointed out (trust me- it's in my syllabus :) )
Ya ya ...smart ass...
Shiva you do remember we had a professor with a hairy pinna back in kelkar !!
Hey! Where have u disappeared?
Hmmm well lalu does have certain things to his credit.
When the entire country was being ripped by the communal riots not one life was lost in bihar.
And at least the dalits etc. felt protected under his rule. With BJP in power god knows what Ranveer Sena and the like will do the the poor villagers.
Strangely Bihar is one of those places which everyone talks about, and seems to know so much about. But the reality is so very different.
I am not praising Laloo and I hope Nitish Kumar actually does something for the state. But I think there is something fundametally wrong in the social fabric of Bihar and until that changes things wont be set right...
Whoa...Lalu did stir a hornets nest out here!!! But then again, he is such an interesting topic for conversation...Thanks you guys...will be back in circulation soon!!!
